Black History Month Poster Contest

To celebrate Black History month the Jeffersonville Club is hosting a poster contest! Winners will be chosen on Tuesday, February 21. Stay tuned to find out who wins!

Stone Carving

The Jeffersonville Club welcomed a new Artist in Residency Series featuring the artist duo Al & Penny Nelson. The artists will be collaborating with Club youth to create a new engraved sign for the entrance to the Club!

Club youth will lean about stone carving techniques and the history of stone carving. Christina Allen, Club Art Instructor, commented, "I'm excited for the Club members to embrace new art techniques as well as expand their knowledge in the history of art!"

Club Member Demonstrates Leadership!

Leadership is just one of the character traits that makes Jeffersonville Club member DaQuan G. stand out. That's why he was chosen as the Jeffersonville Club member of the month. DaQuan is always lending a hand with Kid's Café and running games in the gym. DaQuan is active in the Keystone Club & L.E.A.D. program. He is interested in attending auto mechanic college after graduating high school.

Tasty Thanksgiving Dinner

Jeffersonville Club members & parents enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast on Nov. 17. Special thanks to Dare to Care Food Bank's Kids Cafe partnership with Churchill Downs chefs that helped prepare the meals! The food was yummy!

September Member of the Month

LaTia K. is a third grader at Spring Hill Elementary school. LaTia is a member of the girl's basketball team and a member of homework club. LaTia always works hard and maintains A's and B's in school. She is a model Club member who has a heart of gold. She brings a smile to the faces of the other members and the staff everyday! Keep smiling LaTia, it is contagious!

Club Fishing Adventures

With help from the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Jeffersonville Club members discovered the basics of fishing at Cox's Park. After learning how to assemble the fishing equipment and stringing the line, Clubs members experienced knot tying and simple techniques used to cast. The Club members enjoyed hooking their own bait and learning about habit features that attract fish. The kiddos look forward to the next time they can catch the “big one”. Happy fishing Club members!

Triathlon Stars at the Jeffersonville Club

Club members, Enoch C. and Hannah M. participated in the 2011 Kids 4 Kids Youth Triathlon benefiting BGCK on August 7 at Tom Sawyer Park. With the help of coaches Barry Stowes and Nancy McElwain, both kids trained for several weeks swimming, biking, and running. Enoch and Hannah were troopers and finished strong in the race.

We are very proud of both members and would like to congratulate them on finishing their first Triathlon!
