The Ed Endres Boys & Girls Club has been in operation since 1987 and was started as a joint effort between The New Albany Boys & Girls Clubs, Inc. and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana. The facility is housed in an old building owned by the city of New Albany and has recently been renovated. Because of the positive impact of the Boys and Girls Clubs program, New Albany community leaders embarked on a Capital Campaign to raise $175,000 and constructed a gymnasium on the site. In 1996, funds were secured to add an educational lab, including a computer lab, an art room and an additional auditorium. In 1997, the name of the club was changed from the New Albany Boys & Girls Club to the Ed Endres Boys & Girls Club, in memory of a dedicated and longtime board volunteer who had been instrumental in the growth and success of this club.
