A $1.7 million capital campaign was successfully conducted in the Summer of 1998 to provide for start-up operating funds and construction costs for a 16,000 square foot club in the E. Leland Taylor Park, commonly known as Jewell Park, as a result of collaboration between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana and officials from the City of Louisville. This facility provides much needed programming to the almost 3,000 youth age 5-18 in the Shawnee neighborhood which lacked any significant programs for young people before these efforts began.
